What are the songs that catch God's attention?
What does He define as a 'successful' song?
God has called us all to be worshippers (John 4:23-24) and scripture says that from the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45). It is in our design to worship God and it is for this reason that He has given us musical giftings. God seeks worshippers whose music and life springs from the same spiritual source and that write songs as a result of a revelation of who God is. This is our core motivation when seeking to write songs; that what we write will be an expression of the overflow of our heart.
But being able to put this in song form in a way that other people will enjoy takes a lot of effort and some practical skills.
The song writing course at Nexus seeks to provide a forum where students can learn and experiment with song writing in a supportive, shaping environment. You will find a mixture of practical music lectures, teaching sessions on biblical perspectives and student presentation workshops to help you develop key skills as well as gain a deeper understanding as to the eternal purposes of song writing.
Students are encouraged to record their songs in our Pro-tools studio and will be given opportunity to perform some of their songs in our live performance auditorium.
