Live Sound Course
Introduction
The live sound engineering course is hands on and first class. Get stuck into real equipment in real scenarios everyday.
Learn the essential skills you will need for a career in live sound and apply what you have learnt by working with our bands everyday.
You will cover everything from theory to problem solving and go on industry visits to see what it is really like to be an engineer in the field.
This course is purpose-designed to give each student the very best opportunity to enter the industry or succeed in whatever audio projects they are involved in.
Course Tutor
Trevor Flynn
Trevor came to Nexus from the United States with his wife Heather and has been teaching at the school since 2007.
While in the states Trevor worked as the assistant technical director at Christ United Methodist Church in Memphis, Tennessee giving oversight to audio, lighting, video, and recording for a church of over 6000 members. Shortly before joining the Nexus staff he also accepted a short term position as technical director of Centerpoint Church in Lakeland, Tennessee organizing and fine tuning all of their technical systems.
Course Outline
In a typical day in the Live Sound Engineering course students.......
9:00 AM - Warm-ups - involve correcting a fault that has been set in the system.
9:30 AM - Core class starts and lessons with the tutor begin.
10:30 AM - Break-time
10:50 AM - Bible lecture or small group
11:50 AM - Engineering Lab Time - This is a time for students to do practical tasks that are common place in the industry and learn why we do them.
12:20 PM - Lunch
1:20 PM - Live Performance Workshop
4:20 PM - End of the Day
