Matthew Cossey

Matthew first came to Nexus as a student back in 2004 and never quite managed to leave!  With a playing ability and an understanding of music that far exceeded his years Matthew was trained up ‘in house’ and now exercises his love for teaching having taken on the Piano & Keys department back in 2007.

Matthew joined Nexus with a wealth of musical experience, having enjoyed regular gigs in numerous bands and scenarios. Since coming to Nexus he has continued to pursue excellence, studying and playing alongside many top professionals. Be it Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Pop, Rock or classical music, Matthew has the ability to fit into any playing scenario and loves opening up how different styles of music work to his students.

As well as teaching Matthew enjoys giving his time to composing and producing music in the studio. Having also studied Music Technology, Piano & Keys students can be sure that they will have the opportunity to develop skills that reach far beyond just their instrument, into all areas of their musicality.

Matthew was married in August of 2009 to his wife Kate who is also a passionate and talented pianist and teacher.
