The drum course will push you to your limits. Through expert tuition you will acquire the tools you need for accuracy, fluency, power and speed. You will explore a number of styles and look at signature drummers and songs.
We hold regular clinics at Nexus by some of the most famous players in the world. To date we have had Thomas Lang, Stanton Moore, Steve Smith, Donavan Hepburn and Ian Palmer to name but a few. You could be on the front row.
As part of the year you will be assigned to bands and will perform most weeks in our performance hall. This is a great part of the year that really allows students to develop their live playing.

Drummers are fortunate enough to have two full time drum tutors. Both Dave and Tom are great players, great teachers and have a real heart for their students. Dave, former drummer of the band [dweeb], brings a wealth of experience to the college and we are very pleased to welcome him as our newest memeber of staff. Tom studied at Nexus in 2005/2006 and has grown not only into an incredibly talented player but a great communicator and teacher. Click below to see the guys in action.
This video features former drum tutor Tim Gordon playing along to Black Suit Comin' (Nod Ya Head) by Will Smith. The drums were recorded in our pro-tools studio and we thought it would be fun to set up a couple of cameras so you could see Tim going all out during his take.
This video shows third year drummer Jonathan Lombana playing along to a version of O come all ye faithful arranged for our 2008 Christmas concerts. The video was filmed in the Nexus performance hall and recorded in our Pro-Tools studio.
If you would like any more information please have a look at our FAQ's page, this will hopefully answer most of your questions. If you still have any further course related questions please don't hesitate to contact the course tutors:
