What have you been up to since graduating?
During Nexus we formed the band, [dweeb] and basically God asked to
carry on with it over this past year (and beyond!). What we’ve been
doing is going all over the UK, playing rock music and telling people
about Jesus.
What is your vision for the band?
To see people saved and fired up for God. It’s also really important
to us to make people laugh and to show people why we’re joyful.
What have been the highlights of your last year?
Getting out and preaching to people in clubs and pubs through our music.
Also, being on the youth team and playing at Spring Harvest was awesome.
Hearing reports back from people of how God worked in their lives during
this week was a real privilege.
What were the memorable moments of your year at Nexus?
There were so many both in and outside of college! We’ve chosen one
that we know you’ll experience if you go to Nexus. Each year Nexus put
on a Christmas concert which all the students perform in. On the last
night of these concerts our drummer, Dave, dressed up in our singer’s
clothes, consisting of an afro wig, unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt, sandals
and big 70’s sunglasses.
How have Nexus supported you since becoming a band?
While we were still students and considering our future as [dweeb] we
had regular meetings with the Nexus principle, Dave Silber. His wisdom
and advice was invaluable. This past year Nexus have also provided us
with a place to practice as well as continuing our meetings with Dave
Silber and other members of staff.
What did Nexus do for you both musically and personally?
Nexus was one of the great highlights of all of our lives so far. We
all improved musically and technically on our respective instruments
A LOT. (Not a little). One of the most enjoyable things, however, was
the social aspect and how much fun we had both inside and outside college
hours. We’d recommend it to anyone with a heart for God and music.
