How long have you been at Nexus?
I came here in 2006 as a student and loved it so much I’m still here now teaching part time. So this is now my 4th year. It's crazy to think that just 3 years ago I was still in the 1st year here studying!
What is your favourite part about working at Nexus?
Seeing the transformation in so many people's lives and knowing that this isn’t limited to just being at Nexus- people leave here changed and go on to impact others. This is far from just musical- it's seeing the change in people's interactions with God and each other.
What is the one thing you would like to do before you die?
This is difficult as it’s something I’ve not really thought about, but recently I’ve been getting a bit more of an appetite for travelling and seeing more of the world. Since I was really young and saw the film ‘The Man From Snowy River’ I have always wanted to ride a horse in the Australian out back in the high country and see those amazing scenic views in person.
What is your major achievement to date?
Doing a 100mile walk in 4 1/2 days a few years ago was a pretty big feat at the time. More recently though removing a tree from my parent’s garden was quite a challenge to say the least!!!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like to play guitar, chill out with my housemates and friends to watch films/play the 360. One of my favourites though has got to be working out followed by eating good food.
What are people surprised to learn about you?
Being demoted from Roman commanding officer to foot soldier at the age of 5 in my school nativity… I still had the best costume though!
If you could write a book, what would it be about?
Well I’ve managed to narrow it down to two- either a comprehensive book on how to workout and get into shape, or a book on learning guitar that actually gives you all you need to know from starting out to taking your playing to an advanced level and filling in all the gaps on the way.
What is currently on your iTunes playlist?
Recently some Scott Henderson, Jamiroquai, Jill Scott and B.B. King have made their way onto my playlist.
In two sentences or less, how has your faith changed you?
This is hard to answer in some ways as I became a Christian at such a young age. It's such an integral part of my life I just wouldn’t want to not know the Lord and I can't imagine how very different my life would be if I didn’t have the faith that I do.
